Windshield Adventuring in Yellowstone National Park, Part 3

Looking over at the falls from the outlook.

The Cascades from the overlook

One of the most beautiful side trips we took in Yellowstone was a short side trip over to the Kepler Cascades.  This is a truly gorgeous waterfall on the Firehole River that — if it were any place other than a couple miles from Old Faithful — would rate its own park!   Our guide told us about Kepler Hoyt (the young man for whom the falls had been named).  It just so happened that when his father (then Governor of the Wyoming Territory) John decided to take a tour of the park, he’d taken his son with him.   And the then park superintendant named the falls for the Govenor’s 12 year old Kepler!  There is a trail down from the overlook (one and a bit steep) but the views from the overlook are truly stunning!

We met several people on our trip to and from Yellowstone National Park who made our travels much easier.  We stopped in Idaho Falls the at the Snake River RV Park – a really nice park in a great location – Greg, the owner and his staff reached out and assisted us with a propane problem by sending us to Eagle Rock RV Service Center in town.  The guys at Eagle Rock Service diagnosed the problem and did a “quick fix” which got us back on the road with our rv’s heater back online.

Once we got home, we brought the rig to Bill’s RV Service in Ventura, CA (nice folks, great service and they know their stuff!)  They’ve got a website: http://www.billsrv.net/  and, should you have trouble they do local emergency service calls.
