Windshield Adventuring in Yellowstone National Park, Part 2

While time restraints and road construction limited our sightseeing time within the park, our full day tour and the trip into and out of the park made for one of our most unforgettable Windshield Adventures!

While we kept and “eye out” for larger critters, the only visitors in camp were a couple of squirrels.  Buffalos, bears, elks and wolves were all out visiting with the tourists (and stopping traffic!)    We did have one truly wild night as a cold front moved in and pushed a lightening storm before it.  There’s an old way to tell how far away the lightening is by counting:  one-mississippi, two-mississippi….  that Kathy’s grandmother taught her.  The lightening was so fast and so close that a couple of times she didn’t get past: one-missi…

And, here it is.. Yellowstone’s “main event”   –  Old Faithful
The exact times of the geyser’s eruptions can be forecast by the size of the prior eruptions.  There is now a radio forecast exact time of the next eruption done shortly after the completion of each eruption!
There is so much to see and do in Yellowstone that it is hard to even make a complete list of what you should try to see but no visit would be complete without seeing Old Faithful’s eruption and going in to admire the incredible beauty of the Old Faithful Inn’s lobby.
